Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy

For the last few weeks, my wife persuaded me into watching Grey’s Anatomy with her. To my surprise, I have fallen into the trap of the show and have grown to love the relationship between Mc Dreamy (Dr. Shepherd) and Meredith Grey. I would say that this relationship is almost comparable to the drama between Ross and Rachel of the TV series Friends. Not only is this series full of drama between certain characters, but it is also jam-packed of accidents, blood and things that we as men love. I think the reason why I am so captivated by this show is because the main story line includes 4 intern doctors whose dream is to someday become a surgeon. As I was watching it last night, Izzie (one of the characters in Grey’s) quit because things just got too difficult for her, and as a result she gave up her dream of becoming surgeon. I have been reading this book called, “Wide Awake” and it mostly talks about dreams. The fact of the matter is that when we are pursuing our dreams that God has given us, sometimes we face difficulties and obstacles. Sometimes things just don’t drop in our laps (sometimes they do) but in most cases we really have to pursue these dreams in order for them to happen. The bible has the best story of a man who was given a dream by God, and it took not days, months, or even years, but decades for this dream to come to pass. We all know him as Joseph. In Joseph’s case, and in most of our cases, the problem wasn’t about how long it took for the dream to come to pass, but how long it took to make the dreamer. We all have dreams, and want them to see them come true, but sometimes we get lost in seeing these dreams come true, that we become someone else. We also have to be careful about what our dreams are also. God is not going to invest himself in a dream fueled by greed, arrogance, self-indulgence, and self-centeredness, and we cannot begin to live the dream God has for us until we stop caring about only ourselves. Joseph is motivation for me to never stop dreaming, and I truly believe that when God puts dreams into our hearts, that they will come to pass. Some dreams may take a lifetime to see happen, but God has his perfect plan, and it might be in the middle of the process where we truly find ourselves.
